Building A Paper Town
Few weeks ago, I went with my family to IKEA. It was my first time there. It’s a huge store with many floors. They have a lot of nice things, but I was more excited to see the art section. Mama bought these paper houses and some other art stuff for me.
You can colour the houses before building them. I was too excited to see what they all looked like, so I made them first before I coloured them. There are a lot of details on each house. I really like the different styles of buildings. There is a police station, a fire station, a hospital, a store I called “Lily’s Shop,” etc. I coloured the houses with crayons and markers and painted the trees with green paint.
I used 3/4 of a black poster board as the base. I used a green felt sheet for the lawn. The felt sheet had a sticky back, so placing them on the poster board was easy. I tried using the school glue to stick the houses on the felt, but it didn’t work, so I used foam and felt glue instead.
I used my toy car to draw lines for the streets and acrylic paint to paint the yellow lines on the roads. I prefer the yellow colour. Mama suggested one straight line, but I think the broken lines look better. I used chalk to design and draw directions.
I used some lego toys, my toy car, barbie dolls, and other toys. I built the legos; the man is selling food, and the woman is selling flowers.
If I had to do this again, I would colour the houses first. Anyway, I plan to buy them again and do a Christmas version with lights, so stay tuned… 🙂
This project took 3 days to complete, and I had a rest day in between.
Cheers!

Making a necklace with soft clay
I made my first necklace with soft air-dry clay. It was really fun to make. I like the colours, it reminds me of a campfire. I called this necklace Forest Leaf Necklace because it has the colours of the forest in the fall.

Barbie Fashion Show
The barbies are all excited about the fashion show. They all love their dresses made for them by their trusted designer.
I used a plain white t-shirt and cut up different styles to make barbie clothes. My mom sewed them, then I designed them with fabric markers and dimensional fabric paint. This project took several days to complete. It was the most challenging but also the most exciting project. I had a lot of fun, it’s one of my favorite activities so far. I really enjoy playing with barbies and I’m sure the barbies had fun too.
The stage is made from recycled papers and boxes. I used markers and sticky notes to make the patterns.
