Lava lamp is a fun and easy science experiment for kids.
What you need for this experiment:
Cooking oil
Water
Alka Seltzer tablets
Food colouring
Jar
*Adult supervision is required.

Observing a physical and chemical change reaction.
How to do the experiment:
Fill jar one-third with water
Add the cooking oil until jar is three-quarters full
Add 10 drops of food colouring
Break one alka Seltzer tablet into four pieces.
Add the pieces into the jar
Watch as the experiment activates in the video below.
What I observed:
Oil and water don’t mix.
The food colouring dissolves in the water but not in the oil.
Oil is less dense that’s why it floats.
The tablets dissolved in the liquid. The water rises and forms bubbles.
