Break one alka Seltzer tablet into four pieces.

Watch as the experiment activates in the video below.

    Lava lamp science experiment video.

    What I observed:

    Oil and water don’t mix.

The food colouring dissolves in the water but not in the oil.

Oil is less dense that’s why it floats.

The tablets dissolved in the liquid. The water rises and forms bubbles.

    What’s your observation?

  • Understanding Solar Eclipse. A Unique Experience.

Understanding Solar Eclipse. A Unique Experience.

On April 8th, 2024, there was a solar eclipse in North America. We talked about it a lot in school and we made arts and crafts about the eclipse.

My art and craft of the Solar Eclipse.

We did not have school on the day of the eclipse. I woke up very excited, waiting for the time of the eclipse in my city. It seems like forever for it to finally happen in my city in Canada 😊. My mom bought me a pair of eclipse glasses. I went to an open field with my dad. There were lots of people there too. It was a very cool experience.

Viewing the Solar Eclipse on April 8th, 2024.

    What is a Solar Eclipse?

A solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the earth and the sun and casts a shadow on the earth which makes it dark.

There is a total eclipse and a partial eclipse. A total eclipse is when the moon completely covers the sun. A partial eclipse is when the moon covers half of the sun.

    What is a penumbra?

Penumbra is a Latin word that means almost shadow. It is a part of the solar eclipse that is not completely dark, usually the outside of the dark area.

    What is an umbra?

Umbra is also a Latin word that means shadow. It is a part of the solar eclipse that shows total darkness. Eclipse glasses.

You need a special type of glasses called eclipse glasses to look at the sun during a solar eclipse.

The special glasses will protect your eyes. It is not safe to look directly at the sun without these glasses.
